At Mondia Health, we believe mental health is strengthened through connection, dignity, and the small everyday moments where people choose to uplift one another. This belief came to life at Mondia Dihlabeng, where a simple act of compassion from one of our own leaders became a powerful example of what our organisation stands for.
It began with Mamoya, our Unit Manager at Mondia Dihlabeng (Bethlehem), a woman known for her empathy, leadership, and deep commitment to community well-being, noticing Vusimusi “Vusi” Mosese at the Bethlehem Maluti Multisport Running Club. She saw a young, passionate, and disciplined runner who never missed a club training session, even if he couldn’t always make it to the marathons. As teammates, they supported him as much as they could, and she watched with pride as he reached his first Comrades Marathon, where he became the best performer in the team.
A Runner With a Story of Strength
Vusi’s journey into running started in February 2024 with a personal goal: to lose weight and improve his health. What followed was a transformation, physically, emotionally, and mentally. He went from 90kg to 65kg, completed multiple marathons, and earned a Bill Rowan medal in his first Comrades Marathon in 2025. His dream for 2026 is to return to Comrades and chase a Silver medal.
But behind his progress was a quiet struggle.
Despite his talent, Vusi trained in worn‑out shoes. The pain slowed him down. The financial strain of replacing gear and travelling to races became a barrier. And like many people striving for better mental health, he kept pushing forward while carrying challenges that others could not see.
A Mondia Leader Who Chose to Act
When Mamoya learned about his situation, she recognised something familiar, the same resilience she sees in the people Mondia supports every day. She understood that mental health is shaped not only by therapy and treatment, but by opportunity, encouragement, good habits and the belief that someone is willing to stand beside you.
With the support of Mondia Health, Vusi received a new pair of running shoes, not as charity, but as an investment in his well-being, his confidence, and his future.
For him, this was more than equipment.
It removed a barrier.
It restored momentum.
It reminded him that he is part of a community that cares.
“I think I will achieve more,” he shared. “My struggles were shoes and transport. This support helps me a lot with my running career.”
Running has become part of Vusi’s mental‑health routine: a place where he finds clarity, discipline, and emotional resilience. By removing a practical barrier, Mondia helped protect that source of strength.
This is what Mondia Health stands for:
• Seeing the whole person, their strengths, their challenges, and their potential
• Walking alongside them on their journey
• Investing in small, consistent habits that create lasting change
• Strengthening mental and emotional wellbeing through practical support
• Showing up in ways that restore dignity, hope, and confidence
And this is why Mondia Health is proud to sponsor Vusimusi “Vusi” Mosese on his running journey.
